It is my experience that the only thing constant is change. That is certainly been true this year at BriLee Music. While the summer of 2007 marked the biggest change of all, BriLee Music is committed to keeping some things as unchanged as possible. As most of you know, Brian Busch passed away in June of 2007. His passing has a left an incredible void in the world of choral music. Brian was the strongest advocate for young and developing choruses, and demanded the highest quality literature be published for those ensembles. The league of writers he developed over the years grew to understand the parameters he established and choral directors have benefited as a result.


Now, the challenge begins. How do we keep Brian’s vision and passion alive? As a friend and contributing composer to the BriLee catalog, I certainly understand the delicate balance and unique challenges to publishing exactly what choral directors need for the young and developing ensembles. I know enough to know that we won’t hit the target for everyone. It has sometimes felt like the re-telling of the Goldilocks story. While visiting with directors at state and regional conferences, I hear everything from “It was too high”, “It was too low”, to “It was JUST RIGHT”!


My promise and commitment to you, the choral director, is that I will always listen to your needs and do my best to continue to fulfill those needs as I can only imagine Brian would. In the vein of ‘keeping things the same’, this year, you will find the CD promotion is presented much like Brian always produced it. you will hear excerpts from every new title published this year. They are grouped on the CD by voicing. Additionally, we are producing the same series of composite CD accompaniment tracks and corresponding full version vocal CDs that match the Track CDs. you have all been tremendous supporters of BriLee Music in the past. Thank you. It is for that reason that we are able to print and deliver over 0,000 CD samplers and booklets across the U.S. It is for that reason that we give away over 100,000 copies of music for reading sessions and perusal copies each year.


While Brian was a fountain of knowledge on nearly every topic, one trait that truly made him special was his ability to LISTEN! That is something that I will always remember about Brian and pledge to continue. Finally, we are pleased to announce that all BriLee Music chorals will now be exclusively distributed by our friends at Carl Fischer Music.
