Want To Submit a Manuscript for Publication Consideration?

  • BriLee Music accepts unsolicited manuscripts.
  • BriLee Music specializes in choral music for middle school/junior high school.
  • If your work is appropriate for this grade level, then I'm interested in your music.
  • Manuscripts must be computer generated. Please send only fully arranged choral works. Lead sheets will be rejected. The choral work must fit in an 8-page or 12-page format when printed. Anything longer will be rejected.
  • Manuscripts should be clean, and easy to read. Send all manuscripts to raem@carlfischer.com

Review may not happen as fast as you like, but I will do a thorough review when I get to it. Patience is the key. My review time is generally from mid-April to mid-October. If you send your manuscript at another time, it may sit for a few months before the review process begins. (I generally look at several hundred manuscripts and only publish fewer than 40)

At the beginning of the review period, I need everything—folk arrangements, Latin, originals, Christmas, spirituals, all voicings. As the review period comes closer to the end and slots in the print program begin to fill up, then sometimes I need specific things to plug certain holes in the print program.

If you have questions about your review or if you feel I need a nudge, my e-mail is info@brileemusic.com

Note 1: Learn the catalog. Go to www.BriLeemusic.com and see what's in the catalog. Although I accept sacred materials, they can't be too sacred or doctrinal. They must be appropriate for public school use. Please, nothing cutesy. Clever and well written, yes, but not cutesy.

Note 2: One work will not make you a household word among music teachers. If you are new to the BriLee Music catalog, send me 2-3 things to review—but not 20.

Note 3: Learn to accept rejection. It's part of the process. We will reject about 350 works each year. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Don't give up. If you have never tried to have your music published, be like a Nike commercial: Just do it.
