Christian J. Oliver – “Ceej” (b.1994) is a Syracuse, New York native, who iscurrently studying at Long Island University-Post. He is pursing a degree in Music Education with a focus in voice and piano, with a minor in composition. He currently studies with Stephanie Watt, Carl Strommen, Lisa Holsberg, Dr. Jennifer Scott Miceli. At LIU Post, Christian is an active member in the LIU Post Chorus, Chamber Chorus, and Chamber Ensembles. He is also the President of the LIU Post Collegiate National Association for Music Education Chapter. Under his leadership he has brought in guest artist such as Neil Ginsburg and N.Brooke Lieb, along with creating partnerships with Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and their Arts Education Curriculum.
Several premieres of his compositions have been in the Syracuse and Long Island area as well as international premieres in Ireland and Argentina. Belle Voci Intergeneration Women’s Choir, Long Island Children’s Choir, LIU Post Children’s Choir, and The East End Women’s Choir have been a few choirs who have commissioned him. He has received honorable mention in the NYSSMA (New York State School of Music Association) “Call of Composition”. In Fall 2013, he was one out of six finalist selected for Ithaca College’s Choral Composition Competition and was selected as winner of the Silver Chords student composition contest. He is published with BriLee Publishing Company, a division of Carl Fischer, and has made Editor’s Choice with J.W.Pepper music distributing company two years in a row.
He is also the founder and director of “Kusikia Sisi: Voices for a Cause,” a choir that is composed of high school and college students aiming to refine their choral skills while helping the community through various projects during the summer months.
