Coty Raven Morris, a New Orleans native, is the Hinckley Assistant Professor of Choir, Music Education, and Social Justice at Portland State University. She holds a Master’s in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University and previously directed choirs in Texas, earning multiple awards for her leadership.
A newly published composer, Morris’ works have been performed at honor choirs and festivals across the country. She is also a two-time Grammy nominee, having been named a Finalist for the 2024 Music Educator Grammy and a Semi-Finalist for the 2025 Music Educator Grammy.
In addition to her academic and creative pursuits, Morris is a host at All Classical Radio and the International Children’s Arts Network (ICAN). She also serves as Chorus Master and Artistic Collaborator with Portland Center Stage, the Oregon Symphony Orchestra, and Choirs of America. She is the Founder of Being Human Together, a community focused on conversations around mental health, diversity, and inclusivity in music education.
