Meredith Tompkins is a composer, teacher, and professional choral singer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She holds a bachelors degree from Dallas Baptist University in Music Theory/Composition and a Master of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University. Passionate about building strong private voice studios in schools, Meredith has enjoyed a career in this field since 2011 in partnership with middle schools and junior highs in Waco, Denton, and Bedford, TX. Meredith’s compositional works have been performed by the Singing Men of West Texas, Verdigris Ensemble, the Dallas Baptist University Chorale, Midway Middle School’s Panther Chorale, Blalack Middle School’s Sixth Grade Boy Choir, and by the Harwood Junior High Chorale at the Cambiata Institute’s 2018 MS/JH National Conference for Choral Music. She is the founder of Verdigris Ensemble’s annual ION Young Composer Competition and serves on the ensemble’s board of directors as a committee leader and collaborative composer for school outreach initiatives in south Dallas. As a professional choral soprano, Meredith regularly performs with Orpheus Chamber Singers, Verdigris Ensemble, Dallas Chamber Choir, Dallas Choral Festival, Incarnatus, and the Highland Park Chorale. She is currently Head Private Voice Instructor and Associate Choir Director at Harwood Junior High in Bedford, TX.
